A few weekends ago we go a break in this freezing weather! The winter months are always slow for photography and it's been driving me crazy! I realized that this was the perfect opportunity to do shots of friends just for fun. For them and for me, to be able to express ourselves creatively with no expectations. I have this friend! Her name is Angelea. She is a model, blogger, traveler & wanderer, and overall amazing human being. She did me the great favor of hanging out with me for a day on the Southside and the Strip District and letting me photograph her.
We started with brunch at O'leary's in the Southside and as we made our way to my car I saw this incredible red garage door with this texture that would hurt your heart (in a good way). I of course had to stop us in the middle of our walk and set Ang up in front of this awesome door. She was also conveniently wearing red so it made the photos pop even more. The lighting even gave us a little flare action from above the garage signage.
We then traveled from the Southside to the Strip District to grab some coffee and chill at De Fer Coffee & Tea. After warming up a little we explored different alleyways and loading docks all over the Strip. I love the textures, lighting, and mood that the alleys of the strip create and I think it's unique to any other place in the city. Ang even find an old faded pink chair to use for some shots. After stopping to utilize some puddles and doorways for some more pictures, we decided to call it a day. On our way to the car I saw snow melting off of the roof of some buildings, creating a stunning waterfall that was made even better by the sun illuminating the droplets, making them appear gold. Again, I made Ang stop and take some more photos. I'm so glad that I did because these ended up being my favorite photos of the day. I lined Ang up in the falling water so that the sun shown through them. I even stuck my lens under some of the drops so it would create some bokeh.
And finally on our way out we had to make one last stop at one of the loading docks. The same water and light effect was going on on the dock so Ang without fear jumped on up to that grimy dock and rocked it. It was a great way to end the day! These are some of my favorite photos! I'm so incredibly thankful for people in my life who allow me to create a vision outside of my own mind. It helps keep me creative and makes me better at my job.
Huge thanks to Angelea for allowing me to take these photos! Check her out online by following the links below!
